After more great work from the Eagley grounds men the Dunscar pitch was yet again deemed playable but this time the Eagles might of hoped it wasn’t !
On a heavy wet pitch Garstang started well and were playing to the conditions, with long balls finding their forwards, whilst Eagley tried to pass the ball which was not working. Soon Garstang had a free kick on the edge of the box which beat Eagley’s Tom Macdonald in the bottom corner and they went 1 up. Then soon afterwards they grabbed a second as the on rushing forward tucked it away well from a tight angle, and by half time they had scored again making it 3 nil for the visitors. Eagley’s Heath Ainscow had gone close a couple of times as had Joe O’keefe but neither could make them count before the break.
It was not Eagley’s day as they huffed and puffed in the rain and just couldn’t find the net. Then Garstang scored again to kill it off at 4 nil. Eagley had made all 3 substitutions and it was final change Simon Neary who got a touch from Whaley’s free kick and Eagley got one back. Then in the dying minutes Neary was there again with a header from close range to claim his second, but too little too late. That’s how the game ended and on a wet dismal afternoon and the Eagles were second best.
