The Eagles were beaten comprehensively by Old Boltonians today 7 -1 in the first round of the Hospital Cup.
Manager Whaley was obviously bitterly disappointed and upset with the result but after having several players unavailable today still thought he could field a side that would compete in the competition.
‘It was a shocking performance today and the lads not only let themselves down but the staff. I had an idea on our two squads (1st and reserves) but after that today it’s an open book again and up to the lads to impress me and Scott again. We can’t use the excuse we were missing a few players today as the ones that came in should of been able to compete. But not taking it away from Old Bolts, they played well and deserved to beat us. We’ve got a few good friendliest coming up and we will get it right!’
