Eagles Both Pick Up Points!

News on 9 Aug , 2015

It was points all round and  a solid start to the season with the first team drawing away at Garstang, and the reserves taking all 3 points at home against Wyre Villa.

On a great pitch at Garstang  and lovely sunshine the Eagles worked hard, with both teams missing chances with maybe early nerves slightly  taking over and combined with some fine saves from Eagley’s Tom Macdonald, somehow by half time it stayed nil nil.  The Eagles then came out fighting and on 55 minutes a great through ball fell to the feet of the on rushing Heath Ainscow, who with a one on one with the Garstang keeper made no mistake for 1 nil. But true to Eagley form after a further 10 minutes the Garstang pressure was constant and a some great work on the right side followed by a great Garstang strike saw the  equaliser.

Eagley then went down to 10 men as Jack Horan was shown two yellow cards, and found themselves hanging on for the whistle, but managed it for  a share of the points.

Meanwhile, the reserves had a great opening win at home against Wyre Villa. They went one nil down after 10 minutes but after missing chances and hard work they duly equalised with a great strike by Nathan Hatton (Kes) before the break, and that’s how it stayed at the interval.

Eagley then continued the hard work and their efforts paid off with some great work from Matty Wilkes, and a fine finish from the defender and another goal from Hatton, sealed a great opening victory for the newly reinstated reserve side.

Manager Neil Bebbington was clearly delighted with the win stating they should of won by more goals but was happy taking all 3 points in his first game in charge.
