The Eagles suffered a 2 -1 defeat on Saturday away at Lostock St Gerards in a fiesty game where two teams were desperate for the points.
From the start Eagley looked unsettled and were struggling to get a foothold in the game, and after 30 minutes Eagley’s Nathan Derbyshire went in for a 50/50 challenge with the Lostock’s Alex Randal. This resulted in Nathan being punched to the face, with somehow only himself being sent off for violent conduct! This incensed the Eagley players and at half time the controversy continued as Lostock’s Randal and Eagley assistant manager Scott Derbyshire were both also sent off for an off the ball incident.
Eagley tried to reform introducing the influential Sam Knowles from the bench and after some great play, Taylor Jones was left to tap in from close range to go 1 up. But sadly this didn’t last as Lostock soon equalised to make it 1-1.
Then the game continued in the manner of the first half as Eagley’s Dillon Ashton was sent off, and as was another Lostock player, leaving 9 v 9 to play out the remaining 20 minutes. Then on 71 minutes the killer goal came from Darren Greene to make it 2-1 for Lostock to give them all 3 points in a game best forgotten.
Tuesday night sees the return Lostock fixture down at Dunscar Bridge at 6.30pm k/o, not to be missed!
