Vickerstown 4 Eagley 2

Despite a valiant comeback attempt the Eagles couldn’t manage to get anything from the game, and left without any points in a hard fought contest.

On a well kept Vickerstown pitch and a glorious but windy Barrow afternoon Eagley switched off and after 5 minutes an inswinging cross was met by a Vickerstown head for the opening goal. But Eagley battled well and after a great through ball from Jack Berry it was Jack Horan who found himself  one on one with the keeper, where he slotted home the equalizer.

But again the Eagles switched off and after a dubious off side was allowed Vickerstown scored again for 2.1  The game then began to get ‘scrappy’ with several yellow cards being brandished, and right on the stroke of half time they scored again for 3.1.

In the second half Eagley were much better, and a one two with Whaley and Lindley dropped at Whaley’s feet and he smashed it into the top corner for 3.2. We continued to push and soon had the ball in the back of the net again but it was dissallowed for off-side. It was then a well fought contest where the next goal could of gone either way but as Eagley pushed up higher for the equalizer they allowed them in again and they sealed it making it 4.2.

The bottom of the West Lancs Premier League remains unchanged with Eagley still in 13th place as Thornton lost to Longridge Town and Hesketh Bank had no game. This makes Eagley’s last game away on Saturday a must win match at Longridge otherwise they become reliant on other results.
