Eagley 3 Vickerstown 3

News on 6 Apr , 2015

The Eagles were left distraught after drawing a game they should of won!

They started of well and it was soon apparant they were up against a decent Vickerstown side. But Eagley worked hard and soon got the first goal as Whaley fired home for 1 nil. That’s how it looked it would stay at the break but Vickerstown town beat the Eagley defence and equalised right on the whistle for 1.1.

Second half was better still from Eagley but somehow we managed to let them back in and they scored  again for 2.1 Then a rash challenge by a Vickerstown player on manager Whaley was deemed a red card by the ref and they were down to 10 men, so game on again!

Eagley cranked up the pressure  and a great run and strike from Jack Horan made it all square at 2 -2.

The Eagles carried on pressing and Andy Lindley found himself on the left wing with the ball at his feet. He then curled a delightful strike into the bottom right corner to make it 3.2 for the Eagles.

Thats just how Eagley wanted it to stay, but tiredness set in and we were giving the ball away too cheaply. Vickerstown took advantage of this and somehow with the last kick of the match managed to get the ball over the line for 3-3 before the ref blew time.

A dejected Eagley knew they should of had the three points but had to settle for one instead. They now make the return trip to Vickerstown next Saturday hopefully to take a vital 3 points this time.

Prior to this on Wednesday evening the Eagles take on Tempest in the Hospital cup away at the lostock ground with a 6.30 pm kick off.
